Job Expectations

General Position Summary

Teachers will provide daily instruction and applicable curriculum based on grade level educational standards. Teachers will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that fosters effective student learning that supports school programs and goals.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Apply subject matter expertise to facilitate quality student learning

  • Grade student-created work against established standards for competence and apply scores to standards-based report cards

  • Create, maintain, and ensure the opportunity for all student to learn in a safe and respectful environment

  • Develop and implement effect lessons

  • Integrate technology into the instructional programs, curriculum, and lessons

  • Ensure compliance with special services such as IEP's or other related mandates

  • Demonstrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate reading, math, and writing skills. Move students from stage to stage to meet grade-level standards, including remediating struggling students.

  • Demonstrate classroom management that ensures safety at all times

  • Communicate with parents via email and personal contact

  • Organize volunteers and maintain strong connections with them

  • Understand the principles of positive behavior management/ modification

  • Demonstrate professionalism, willingness to learn from others, and collaboration skills to implement projects with peers

  • Demonstrate adaptability and adhere to respectful professional interaction with peers

  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and trainings as required by Oasis Academy administration

  • Ability to appropriately handle stress and interact professionally and collaborate with administration, staff, parents, and the community

  • Regularly and consistent punctuality and attendance are essential functions of the job

  • Abide by policies and procedures to maintain compliance with FERPA regulations

  • Abide by policies established in the Oasis Academy Staff Handbook

  • Available as needed for planning on non-student contact days

  • Satisfactorily perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Understanding and appreciation for project-based learning as well as Wonders Reading Curriculum, Singapore Math, Amplify Science

  • Fluent use of educational technology platforms and common office software packages such as Google Drive/Apps, NWEA MAPS, iREADY, and other EdTech software.

  • Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to provide instruction in an elementary classroom

  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with instructional objectives, in order to meet the needs of all students

  • Must be able to perform at a high level in written and verbal communication

Required Experience and/or Education

  • Minimum earned bachelor's degree in a field related to elementary or early childhood education.  Masters degree in a field related preferred

  • Must possess a Nevada teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education
