Members of the Oasis Cheer and Spirit team rooted on the Nevada Wolf Pack basketball team at their home game on December 30th.
The event included a clinic hosted by the University’s Spirit Program prior to the game. At the clinic they learned various cheers, chants, and a halftime routine. Oasis was one of multiple schools from throughout Northern Nevada to participate in the event.
“This was an incredible opportunity for the girls to represent Oasis and our community,” said Bella Prewett, Oasis Cheer Coach. “They did so with such excitement and it showed during their performance.”
“My favorite thing about the UNR clinic was how all the cheer teams came together on the court. It just showed how dedicated we were to this task, even some of us practiced minutes before we had to perform,” said Alexis Slupski, Oasis Cheerleader.
The experience also allowed the students to experience cheer at the next level.
“This was also a great way for them to experience collegiate level athletics and encourage them to pursue our sport beyond Oasis Academy. We are so grateful to have participated this past weekend and are looking forward to more UNR clinics in the future,” Prewett added.
