Oasis Academy received results from Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) testing done at the end of last school year. The impressive results showed both Oasis Elementary and Middle School students tested above the state averages in ELA (English Language Arts) and Math. High School students also tested above the state averages for the ACT. This is especially incredible considering students were only recently back to in-person learning when testing was conducted.
“Oasis continued a rigorous education program during the remote learning period. Teachers worked hard to meet every student’s needs everyday and their hard work shows in these test results. Contrary to what much of the nation is facing in the Covid slide, Oasis students remained strong and grew in the midst of the pandemic,” explains Chief Academic Officer Rochelle Tisdale.
“To maintain rigor and have the level of student growth we had in the 20-21 school year is nothing short of remarkable.” adds Chief Executive Officer Melissa Mackedon. “It is total credit to our teachers who took the mid-year data, which looked pretty dismal, put their eye on the ball and made it happen for our students. They are heroes!”
Because of these scores, Oasis Academy proudly earned 5-stars again through the Nevada School Performance Framework. Although the state is not officially rating schools the data is available and Oasis student outcomes would qualify for 5 stars. Oasis is proud of their staff, students and families for persevering in the worst of times. Way to go Bighorns!
