Hunter Drost

From working as a financial advisor to being part of Fallon’s elite Volunteer Firefighters to now pursuing his private pilots license, Oasis alum Hunter Drost is doing it all with purpose. “Being able to help people is the only goal I continue to have,” said Drost.

Drost graduated from Oasis Academy College Prep in May 2018 with both his High School Diploma and Associate of Arts from Western Nevada College. The focused student then went on to graduate in just two years from the University of Nevada, Reno with his Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science with a Journalism Minor in May 2020.

Crediting the Oasis staff and administration, Drost is grateful for the opportunities he might not have otherwise had, if he had not attended Oasis. “I’m grateful for the Staff and Administration as a whole for creating an abundance of opportunity in and outside of the classroom. This allowed for me to have the flexibility to take on roles and obligations that often took me away from the classroom in a new learning environment,” explained Drost.

Those experiences are also part of advice he has for future students. “You are at a unique time in your life where you have the freedom to try anything and everything your heart desires, find out what it is you love doing, and go for it.”

So what’s next for the alumni? “I am planning to start a master's program for Fall of 2023. With the increasing availability of remote/hybrid programs there are multiple options to research and consider. Other than that, I plan to continue working and serving the people of Fallon in my role as a Financial Advisor. I love my career and have no plans of doing anything else.”
